5 ways to survive this summer heat as a Tulsa mama-to-be

We all know this Oklahoma summer heat is no joke, add in growing a human during the summer months and you’ve reached a new level of uncomfortable. I recently polled on my Instagram tips to survive the summer heat as a Tulsa pregnant mom and here are the top 5 answers from other mamas:

Drink ALL the water!

Staying hydrated is so important for everyone but particularly pregnant mamas. If you’re like me, drinking plain water is so boring so make it fun with a cute cup (hello 40oz. Stanleys) and add in fresh fruit or drink flavoring. Plus if you’re already in the habit of drinking water during your pregnancy it will be even easier during postpartum (and you’ll already have a cute cup instead of the plastic hospital one or as I like to call them the OG Stanley).

Portable fans are your friend.

Invest in a little fan to keep in your purse or car, these can be a life saver when you need just a little air movement. They even have some that recharge with a USB so you’re not having to switch out batteries all the time.

Tune up your home AC.

If you haven’t had your home AC tuned up in a while do it before the temps get into the 100’s. This is usually when AC’s will go out and repairmen are so busy. I’d hate to be the person on the phone telling a pregnant woman that’s at home with no air conditioner that it’s going to be a while before they can get out to your house.

A pool will be your best friend.

If you don’t have access to a pool, find one. That was one of the top recommendations on my poll! While you’re there rock that baby bump! Don’t feel like you can’t show your baby bump, be proud of your gorgeous self and wear the bikini. And don’t forget your sunscreen.

Wear all the sundresses.

Dressing your baby bump in the summer can be so uncomfortable, sometimes you don’t even want to wear clothes. Sundresses are the perfect solution. They’re light and flowy, easy to use the bathroom since you’re doing that every 10 minutes, and you can also wear them during postpartum. These are my favorite sundresses from Walmart: Jersey Knit Dress

You’ve got this mama! Being pregnant during the summer doesn’t have to be miserable, just prop up this feet, enjoy all the popsicles, and remember you’re beautiful and amazing!
